Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files that websites you visit store in your browser. Similar technologies, such as the browser's local storage (localStorage), can also be used to keep your preferences on your device. In this policy, both are referred to as "cookies".

We only use the following first-party cookies and storage entries, which are needed for the site to work and to remember your preferences:

• NEXT_LOCALE (first-party cookie, 1 year): remembers the site language (Turkish or English) you chose in the language switcher. It is only created when you change the language.
• birfen-theme (browser local storage, until you delete it): stores your light or dark theme preference. It stays on your device and is not sent to our server.
• birfen_admin_session (first-party, HttpOnly and secure cookie, up to 7 days): keeps the session of authorised Birfen staff who sign in to the admin panel. It is never set for site visitors.

Cloudflare, the content delivery network (CDN) provider that delivers our site securely, may set strictly necessary security cookies (for example __cf_bm or cf_clearance) when needed to detect malicious traffic and bot attacks. These cookies are not used for profiling or advertising.

We do not use the following types of cookies:

• advertising, remarketing or targeting cookies;
• third-party analytics or tracking cookies (for example Google Analytics or Meta Pixel);
• cookies from social media plug-ins.

Umami, the analytics software we use for visitor statistics and host on our own server, does not use cookies, does not store any identifier in your browser and does not record your IP address.

The cookies we use are functional and security cookies that are necessary only to provide the service you explicitly request (showing pages in the language and theme you chose, securing the admin session and protecting the site against attacks). They are used on the basis of Article 5(2)(c) and (f) of the KVKK; since your explicit consent is not required, the site does not show a cookie consent banner.

If we ever decide to use analytics, advertising or marketing cookies, they will only be activated after obtaining your explicit consent, and this policy will be updated.

You can view, delete or block cookies and local storage entries in your browser settings (usually under "Settings > Privacy and security").

If you delete or block the NEXT_LOCALE cookie, the site picks the language based on your browser's language preference; if you delete the birfen-theme entry, the theme returns to its default appearance. The site's content remains usable without these cookies.
